Hip-hop is built into the DNA at Bigfoot Kick. It's one of the main tenets of our brand that we mix with gaming and outdoor cultures. A weird fusion for sure, but hey, we aren't making any apologies anytime soon for being a unique breed. We're here for the weird. For the wild. For the wanderers and the mysterious. For people who jam to an off-beat soundtrack and want to look good doing it.
It's in the spirit of being unique, of searching for your instinctive travels, that we are excited to drop our latest graphic tee in collaboration with Mad Goat Studio, the Electric Bigfoot Tee. We were so excited to work with the talented artists at Mad Goat, and they delivered a look that lives up to their spunky innovative approach.
For the design, we wanted to use our signature logo but give it a hip-hop twist - specifically from the late 80s to early 90s. It was a time of creative explosion and rhythmic birth. In a word, it was electric. This collab pays homage to that period, especially to two main groups that influenced us through early adulthood:
A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul.
Playing with our color palette, we tapped into the cover art of De La Soul is Dead and 3 Feet High and Rising along with Tribe's People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm. With pops of orange, yellow, and bold blues, the designs reflect the tone and vibrancy of the music and the era. It was bold, funky, a bit weird, and 100% amazing.
I grew up on People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm. Bonita Applebum, Can I Kick It?, and Luck of Lucien. Every time I pulled out my wallet I was talking about El Segundo. Tribe was doing something different with hip-hop, something unique and unexpected (for a more detailed look at how Q-Tip was changing how rap arrangements were made, check out "Go Ahead in the Rain" by Hanif Abdurraqib). It's the spirit we hoped to tap with our Electric Bigfoot Tee, a bold and exciting print that will immediately send a jolt through your wardrobe.
